Private lessons at Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels tailored in consultation to your specific project goals.
Focus on a specific process or get more in-depth experience and practice with the ceramic material and/or the ceramic 3D printer.
Especially recommended for teachers/college instructors, architecture firms, designers, ceramic artists, etc.
Duration: Based on your workshop needs, anywhere from 2 to 23 Hours (5 days). Time needed is TBD in consultation of your learning goals and needs prior to workshop.
Pricing: From $250 (2 Hours) to $500 (4.5 Hours = 1 day), $950 (9 Hours = 2 days), or $2200 (5 days).
Days and times may be flexible, schedule is TBD in consultation prior to workshop.

General workshop content:
Intro to the Rhino design environment, nuts and bolts of making solid models for 3D printing.
Intro to slicing software. Slicing and trouble-shooting STL file for printing.
Ceramic materials and clay preparation.
Printer set-up, operation and maintenance basics.
Form and structural issues for printable ceramic designs.
Ceramic hand-building with 3D printed components. Trimming, finishing and getting your work ready for firing.
Examples for specialized workshop content:
Adventures with textures.
Adventures with forms: functional vessels.
Adventures with forms: sculptural objects.
Adventures with forms: lighting design.
Advanced form design and solving structural issues.
Deep-dive in surface finishes: ceramic pigments and glaze applications.
Mold-making and casting using printed forms.
Additional printing and experimentation time.

Workshop fee includes: Private lessons, printing and experimentation time. Clay used for projects and bisque firing of a select number of successful pieces. Bisque fired work can be picked up in 2 weeks.
Standard glazing and high-firing are an additional fee ($50-200), depending on number, size and complexity. Turn-around time for glaze firing can vary depending on how busy the kilns get but your pieces will be available for pick-up within 4 weeks. Unless the agreed-upon workshop plan contains surface finishing with pigments, only standard glazing options are available. Standard glazing options use one solid color. Choose from our white, clear, dove gray or light blue glazes.
Slip Rabbit uses cone 6 Grolleg porcelain exclusively. If you wish to learn about the painterly and colorful surface treatments that are the trademark of our studio, please sign up for one of the Painterly World of Pigments Workshops or ask us to add that to your CYOW lesson plan. All of our glazes and surface treatments when fired are food-safe, microwave and dishwasher safe.
All workshops are private lessons with ceramic artist and UW Art faculty, Timea Tihanyi.
Workshop participants must be at least 18 years.
